7. Livestock and Health Data
Your livestock records, health records, and related information are your proprietary business data. ProteinTrail stores and processes this data on your behalf to facilitate management, certification, and export of your livestock. You retain full ownership of all such data. The treatment and vaccination records created by licensed VETs (with VCN registration) represent professional veterinary advice provided within the scope of their practice.
You are responsible for controlling access to your livestock records and should only invite VETs you trust to view or create records on your behalf.
8. Sharing Your Personal Data
8.1 Within ProteinTrail
We may share your Personal Data within ProteinTrail Limited entities for administration, service improvement, and fraud prevention.
8.2 With Third-Party Service Providers
We may share Personal Data with the following third parties who provide services essential to ProteinTrail:
- AWS (Amazon Web Services): Cloud infrastructure for hosting, data storage, and backup
- Paystack: Payment processing and transaction handling
- Sentry: Error tracking and performance monitoring (server-side only)
- Analytics and tracking service providers: To understand how you use our Service
8.3 Veterinary Data Access
When you invite a VET to create health assessments or access livestock records, that VET gains access to your Sensitive Personal Data. VETs are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your data and using it solely for the provision of professional veterinary services. Ranch owners should carefully consider which VETs they invite to access their records.
8.4 Legal Disclosures
We may disclose your Personal Data if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests
- Protect the safety, rights, and property of ProteinTrail, users, or the public
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues
9. International Data Transfers
Some of your Personal Data may be transferred to countries outside Nigeria, including the United States (where AWS is based). Where we transfer data to jurisdictions with different data protection standards, we implement appropriate safeguards, including contractual obligations with our service providers to ensure adequate protection of your information.
By using ProteinTrail, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside Nigeria as described in this Privacy Policy.
10. Data Retention
We retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When you delete your account through our admin support, we retain your data (including livestock records and health records) for a period of six months to comply with regulatory requirements and to allow recovery if needed. After six months, your data will be permanently deleted unless we are required to retain it by law.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption of data at rest on our servers
- Secure password storage using bcrypt hashing
